That's a *great* idea, Ralph.  Mechanical doo-hickii as ornamental
elements.  I love it.  I thought I was being real clever when I
incorporated an old brass toilet tank valve into an indoor gate for a
computer center.  But it doesn't *do* anything.  Lessee, a nice little
hand crank, one them reciprocating widgets, I've got a little worm gear
here somewhere, a slider made out of this here thing....

Oh yeah.  :-)
