[TheForge] Interesting books from Lee Valley

Thanks for posting these Mike, I had the catalog out to order a few of the
mechanical movements, but it got thrown out - or into the fire with the rest
of the holiday flyers. The kids always ask what I want for Christmas and I
leave that catalog out with circled items......as a hint. :-)

This year the kids floored us and got us a new stereo system for the
house........but I did't get what I wanted......... (Poor Ralph) :-)
the tunes are great, John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison, George Thoroughgood,
Vassar Clemens, Eric Clapton, etc....... all in surround sound none the
less. Some of this technical progress stuff ain't bad.

A couple years ago I purchased the small farm and blacksmithing books and
found the line drawings to be nice and they explained simple start up
smithing. I ended up ordering some multiples of them. For the $11or so they
cost for the set - it makes someone happy that is just starting out, and I
now put them in the iron in the hat table at our meets. They are some of the
first things to go.

I also got a couple of the cabin and barn books which I enjoyed. The
gardening books contained lots of grilles and fences...... more than like
cast due to the ornamentation, but none the less, Ideas where there to be
had for short money.

I'm going to order up some of the mechanical movement books now that I have
a reference to them. I started incorporating mechanical ends in my railing
fixtures by exagerating the parts that I'd seen in some early engineering
books and got some good results............ I'm sure these will lend
themselves to more tangents along that line.

Ralph
