Yes. I try to do the same. The public is a fickle herd. I have been
surprised many times by what sells and what doesn't. One recent event I
sold iron on Saturday reasonably well, and the wife nothing. Sunday,
textiles were going out quickly, and I sold only one S hook. Go figure.
One of the things that I remember, says that for every pound of iron you
expect to sell, you should bring 3. As I almost always bring a forge, I can
(and do) whip up things that sell out, or special requests on the spot.

It is very important to have a wide range of prices.

I pass out a lot of cards at demonstrations, and get about 2 calls a year
for custom work. Nothing very big usually.

At the demos I sell a lot of camping and cooking stuff: tripods, grills,
BBQ forks, spoons, lid lifters, and a variety of hooks. Each event is
different what sells, it's hard to predict what will be hot. It's good to
have a few high end items, I sell three or four fire place sets each year.
