[TheForge] on death and dying.OT

Well, here's the scoop on the laws. Yes, you have to have accessable
toilets. Depending upon local codes, the porno-potties (like my
daughterpronounced it when she was 5<G>) make a suitable substitute.

Note though, that in new construction (in Georgia, but I think that it is U
S wide), you HAVE to have accessability. If you build 1 new toilet, it has
to be accessable. If you build several, at least one has to be accessable.
And built to the laws specification. Yes, as I understand it, the lady was
correct. Some folks just don't have any people skills<G>. Talking about
the lady here<G>.

At the place that he works (they recycle computers and issue them to other
handicapped folks, and are doing well enough to cut loose from the
government grants that started the enterprise<G>), they actually had to
remove a urinal in order to make the urinalwide enough to be compliant; AND
they had to remove a toilet for the same reason. And they had to remove a
sink. So, now instead of 2 sid town, 2 stand ups, and 2 hand washes, they
have one of each.

Now, like zoning laws, if no one complains, you are ok.

Yes. I will ask him for the exact details and email to you. Since the
forge now strips all original email addresses, please shoot me a note
directly at grover.richardson at gtri.gatech.edu and we can continue off list,
so as to not annoy anyone<G>.

We started converting a bus for camping, and are using a rv toilet for that
exact purpose.

Will get back.

Well, hopefully he has more sense than that idiot woman I was trying to get
information out of, when I was looking into designing and building a
handicapped accessible john for people in our camp at Pennsic. I explained
that I was trying to make things more convenient for my campmates, and she
started to get all heavy duty about how by law I HAD to do this, and HAD to
do that, and so forth, and I finally told her, after being polite a couple
times, that I didn't HAVE to do any of it, and thanks to her input, any
disabled visitors could damn well roll down to the portacastles just like
the rest of us.

If your brother DOES have a reasonable amount of sense, ask him, what sort
of set up we could use for that purpose, figuring that the john itself will
be one of those camping pots sold in the camping catalogs- height of the
seat, clearance for chairs inside the support frame, and like that.
