We obviously don't want something made by us out that does not work so
they will be going to the landfill. If we give them away eventually
they Might get passed around and the original people would have know
they skipped at the end but someone would feel they got hurt by not
seeing the whole thing. We were selling them for $5 each that were
guaranteed to work so it is hard to get lower than that.
Of course if the library never comes back up, there went 600 hours of
documented blacksmithing by some demonstrators that are only with us in
spirit as they have passed on.
This whole DVD project has been a nightmare as first I copied about 400
hours (hour for hour) from original VHS tape, through a digital camera
onto a hard drive to a DVD. These DVDs I tried on my home player and
Bob Fredell's home player which functioned fine only to find out these
might have been the only two players in the world that worked. So those
were also land filled and the process started over copying hour for hour
the 600 hours of tape. They worked for a while and we sold about 600 of
them at the ABANA conference and mailed out many more before this latest
problem.
So if anyone knows an answer for my DVD problem email me directly at
rog781 at means.net so we can talk
There might be a few DVDs as a reward
Thanks

Hey Roger,
How good a deal?
Jim
Unfortunately the library is still unavailable due to tech problems. The
UMBA board met today and want to solve the problem and get back in
operation as soon as possible. We are looking for someplace to make
reasonable DVD copies that will continue to play. Anyone have a
suggestion as who can provide this service. There are slightly over 100
titles so we can not order a large quantity of each title as we are a
non profit group. Most average over 5 hours long. If and when we are
again operational I will spam the blacksmith groups with ads looking to
sell the DVDs. We also used to offer VHS but means the DVDs quite
working we cant make VHS copies. The very bad news is we have 1000
copies on hand that may or may not play all the way through. I can make
you a good deal on them. Roger R Degner
