Amen. Did the same durn thing for the same reason. I'd still love to do
a Ph.D or maybe an MFA, but just to know the stuff, not to try to make
a dollar and certainly not to bring glory to my committee. I could
never quite see myself a slave on the tenure wheel. It was the best
career decision I ever made, except maybe the one before it where I
decided that maybe being a professional jazz bass trombonist isn't a
lucrative life choice.

Whew, did I get lucky.
