[TheForge] old mail files, questions, and comments.

Marc, Thanks for the input on posting and the settings on the lower end of
the e-mails.......figures I didnt' see it - I've probably only been exposed
to it 20,000 times in 7 years.      ........Duh.  {:^O

I have seen attachments to theforge postings......but they aren't really
attachments that open like a JPG file........but this is only my ignorance
in "puter stuff" coming thru once again.  Maybe they just don't like MY
attachments........but I think not - as the message said "message returned
as theforge mail list does not accept attachments".   Hey, stranger things
have happened - this is no biggy.......but I do see paperclips on the side
of some folks e-mails.  That is still a mystery to me.

I don't know about selling a CD that is information gathered from other
people.  I have compiled this information from my travels, workshops,
gatherings, demos, theforge, and field trips.  Only about 40-50% of it is my
findings, information or original material - so I'll just give it as a gift
on occassion.

I don't know about double posts, since I don't think I've seen very
many. But you can select whether or not to receive your own posts. Go to
TheForge's web page, http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/theforge
(it's at the bottom of every TheForge post) and log in. Hopefully you'll
remember your password, but I think they'll email you one if you don't.

I thought for sure I've seen attachments on The Forge. But I'm on a few
email lists, so now I don't know. But I didn't see anything on
TheForge's web page that mentioned anything about it. It's entirely
possible they just chuck the message if it's got an attachment. Lots of
lists do that to help with viruses and also because a large attachment
could bog down someone's dial-up. I think I'll run a test to see what
happens.

And private email will always allow attachment, 'cuz it's your business
what you send out. Although I've seen some email servers that limit the
size to make their lives easier.

You might want to make this CD for sale. I bet more than a few people
would find it pretty useful.

It sure is easier to find them when they're stuck in your pocket. My
problem is leaving them there. I tend to use one and then put it down,
forgetting where.

And I'll second that. I don't know how I'd be getting along without all
the help from around the world that flows into the 'puter. I suppose I
would have found a way, but this has made it so much faster. So thanks
to you all for taking the time to share what you know. And especially to
you, Ralph. There are a few people who's posts to The Forge I
automatically read, and you're one of them.
