Bob,
Congrats on completing a project. I have to wait until the cast iron rod I ordered comes in and until the day job doesn't interfere before I can get back to my cast iron project.
Let us know how it holds up.
Aubrey

Subject: [TheForge] Welding Cast update
I finally got caught up enough to try the cast iron project that I started
asking about last week.
I ground a grove around the break.
Clamped several stops to my welding table, so I could get the parts lined up
while hot.
Pre-heated at 450 for an hour, I had to go stack fire wood to get out of the
shop and force myself to wait.
Welded with KT brand cast iron rod. I looked on the package and it didn't
give the nickel percentage.
The weld looks nice and it is back in the oven at 450. When I go out after
lunch I'll shut the oven off and let it cool.
By this time tomorrow I'll know if it is going to hold.
