Dan,

I have a cousin who has completely gone solar at an a-frame home he built
and retired to. This is in central Ohio and in the woods. I've heard some
of his numbers on cost and output but I can't remember enough to quote them.
I do know that it provides for all of his needs except heat. He does have a
gas well and I think he heats his water with gas and cooks with it. He
heats the house with wood.

One of the things his wife mentioned is that they have to stay involved with
managing their power. Their power use can't be out of sight / mind so they
have gauges they can look at and make choices on what they use daily. It
does require a life style change but they don't seem to mind. You just
can't do anything / everything you want to without thinking about it.

Ok I'm moving and have the chance to set up the new place how ever I want
(within my budget that is). So I'm thinking of using solar and ether going
off grid or selling it back. Do we have anyone with knowledge or expertise
with solar to give me a clue as to if this is a good idea or not?
Thanks
Dan
