The local scrap yard here still charges me only 15 cents a pound but on
large pieces they will give me a much better deal because they have to cut
it up into small pieces to sell it. They are paying currently $150 a ton for
short iron (18" or less).

At thirty cents a pound (scrap price), that would be sixteen hundred
dollars at the steel supplier that I go to.
I could buy four used platen tables for that!
