Don, I have made a few wheels for my "fish-on-wheels".

Dave;

Those fish are the coolest set of wheels I have seen. They are splendid.

The back wheels are about 6" but using 3/8 for the center is asking for
difficulty.

Good point. The wheels may look just as good with 3/8 square or 1/4 x 1/2",
etc.

I made my hubs from 3/4" pipe, swedged down just like you would do to
make a 'cattail' except this cattail is only about 1" long.
Great suggestion. I'm gonna steal it right away.

I would suggest getting a "cross-slide -vise" for your drill press. To
me, the hard part was getting the center of the hub directly under the drill
 bit.
Another excellent suggestion, Dave. I just checked and Northern has them on
sale today for $42.99

hope this helps
