Don,
Now that I'm with the program...
How about making the jig Ralph suggested long enough to fit the whole
piece of rod in? Drill the angle blocks where you want the holes, tack
or clamp the rod in the angle, clamp the jigged piece in your vise, and
drill away--you could make the jig reusable by drilling 1/8" holes in
the angle every say 1/2" and then then just drilling pilot holes at the
appropriate intervals. Weld tubing with the right size bore to the
holes to be certain the drill is plumb. Clamping and drilling on a
compound outside curve could be tricky.
