Poison oak holds much of this area together on the steep slopes..it's a
good soil builder. There are places not far from here where the stems
are thicker than my wrist. We always say," it's a good year for poison
oak", every year.
I used to be extremely sensitive to it, but have built resistance over
time with exposure...but first i took a course of the poison oak drops
that the forestry uses that starts with a miniscule dose and slowly
works up.
The lumberjacks say to scrub the affected area with ajax or
comet.....nasty but effective.
Almost all of the cures take 2 weeks, just like leaving it alone.
Steroids work though.
It was imported to England as an ornamental at one time...grin....
