Yeah: John Fick's version was set up like a slot forge with the ceramic 
balls filling the slot. The air/propane mixture was blown in the bottom 
and burned in the medium. The flat forge top was dry stacked with  soft 
bricks into whatever shape was needed. Work heated in it showed almost 
no scaling, even after 1/2 hr at yellow.
