[TheForge] rpm/horsepower

Hi Bob, The slower a grinder turns the more the item seems to Bump and
dance. I had a 1750 grinder years ago and when I got a 1 hp 8" that turned
at 3600 - it was a world of difference in the ability to grind easily
compared to the slower speed.

I don't know about lower rpm having more torque for your buck, but I'd
venture a guess that it wouldn't equal a half horse.

The grinder I have is one from Grainger, that I've been happy with, and the
others my freinds have and like are the Grizzly and the Jets. For some
reason Grainger had a tool sale a couple years ago and offered it for $156
when I was in need of one when my six inch died on me. Not sure about best
grinder for the dollar, but I'm sure some folks will let you know what has
worked for them.

Ralph
