Thanks for the compliment, Ron, but as I said before I'm not really a
wizard; I just listen to people who know more than I do, and take their
ideas out further, or sometimes in a different direction.
I don't have any plans on the web yet (or even drawn up properly), but I'll
be happy to send parts lists and photos to anyone interested. I'll put a
couple of pictures on the photo site under Forges and Hoods. When I get the
plans drawn up properly, I'll post them on the photo site. This may take a
while; I'm pretty busy with my paid job and keeping with several blacksmith
commitments
My forge is a 10-inch pipe 12 inches long with two slightly modified Larry
Zoeller sidearm burners with .035 orifices
http://www.geocities.com/zoellerforge/sidearm.html
I have two inches of Kaowool coated with ITC-100. I use high-alumina kiln
shelving for the doors because I don't have the equipment to cut fire brick
to size. I finished one up last night, and when I fired it up at two pounds
of pressure, it hit 1600 F in about five minutes. At that pressure it
stabilized at about 1700-1750. I'll do some checking at higher pressure
over the next couple of days.
For FABA members, I'm bringing two to the conference this week (Unpaid
advertising here), and you can check them out.
