Andy,
Did you build any special burner end where your pipe enters your forge? If so
what, if not is your forge LOUD?
I built a burner end for mine based on a Japh Howard design. Basically it is
'The Rosebud Concept' the volume of air that can pass thru a 1 & 1/4" pipe.
Divide that up into individual holes the size of straws, basically a big
rosebud. It is truly effective and much much quieter. A bit of work to go
thru the process involving a 1&1/4 to 3 bell, some beeswax in the bottom of
the bell to hold the straws in place while the castable refractory sets up, a
template pattern to hold them in place on top but it is worth the trouble.
mine has been up and running with this design about 7 years.
