Nobody owns a cat, any more than anybody casually tosses a Dwarf. :)

There are currently three who grace us with their presence, _when_ they 
condescend to appear other than at mealtimes. There are: The Black 
Plague, a neutered tom whom I believe has never quite accepted my 
explanation that it was for his own good; Schroedinger, an orange tabby 
intact tom one never knows is dead or alive until he shows up for a 
handout; and Nameless, a young gray tabby queen who deigns to grace our 
barn.

There were four, but Spooky, a gray tabby and white piebald queen, 
unfortunately neglected to dodge when the horse decided one day that she 
might look better with hoofprints.

Hmmmmm, yes. What was I thinking? I know cats were once worshipped as 
gods and have never forgotten it nor allowed humans to.
