[TheForge] removing welding flux

I have been having trouble removing the last bits of welding flux from inside of those hard to reach places such as a basket handle or braided handle.  Does anyone have any sugestions to gaurantee complete removal?  It seems that I always have a bit of coorosion months or years later form up under the finish at the weld points that I assume is moisture being atracted to the remaining flux.
