[TheForge] OT Union Rant

That is the "BIG LIE" that keeps getting pushed around. The one that says
that collective purchase of a service gives a better price. In actuality, as
soon as you let someone else take care of things for you, you lose track of
the cost and just expect things to be taken care of.
As long as the employer is buying the insurance and the insurance is paying
the Doctor, you could care less what it costs and many people run to the Dr.
or emergency room every time the methane gets crossways because they "don't
have to pay for it".
That means we all have to pay for it. This is what has allowed the cost of
medicine, for one thing, to sky rocket to where it is today. for example,
the birth of my first kid in a hospital cost me $950.00. We delivered
another one at home for a total cost of $25.00 and that included a natural
child birth class. Today, I'd be surprised if a hospital birth didn't cost
$15,000.00 to $20,000.00. That is assuming that there are no problems.
