Agreed. Good companies are comparatively uncommon. AT&T is
a prime example of just how bad a company can get. I will
mercifully spare you all the horror stories.

This is a key to success. I've managed many projects, some
with budgets of $100M, which is beginning to get into what
I would call significant size. I've watched clients treat
their people like dirt and, predictably, their projects
routinely fail. They have NO clue as to why. One thing I
can say for myself is that as far as I know everyone that's
ever worked for me has liked it precisely because I treat people
with courtesy and respect. if I am empowered to do so, I
thank them with as much money as possible when jobs are well
done. This is rarely so, though. What I don't understand is
why these upper managers see fit to get tight fisted with,
say, $100K in bonus money when the product/service they sell
brings them in, say, 100 to 1000 times that every stinking
year. Give $1K away here and there over the life of a project
to those who have done their jobs extremely well and those
people will march through the gates of hell for you without
even having to ask them. Myopia is a raging epidemic in
	corporate America.
