In case you're of a hairy face type, shave. A beard negates much of the
fitted respirator. Kevin

I just got one of those little pressure pot sandblasters on sale at Harbor

I found the $10 venturi pick-up type to be pretty lacking. Hopefully this
one will do a little something for me.
I'm looking for media that's aggressive but doesn't cause that lung disease
silica sand does. Sillicosis or something. I can only generate 18 CFM @ 90
psi so I have to stick with an 1/8" nozzle.
With silica, would a good dust mask be enough, if I'm not engulfed in dust,
or a respirator?
Nix to the dust mask. You need a properly fitting respirator. That means,
go to an actual safety supply company and get one fit.
Also, the pot will only work if you keep your media dry. First thing to do
is install a big water trap on the compressor if you use it in winter,
second
thing is warm the sand until it isn't moist. Otherwise you won't need the
respirator, 'cause nothing much will be happening.
