[TheForge] slide bolt

I will soon be building a pair of slide bolts, each 36 inches long.  I
have been working on some drawings, working out design and
measurements.  I have yet to come up with a system I like for
incorporating a lock.  Thought that some of you have done similar jobs
and might suggest some options.  If the bolt was round stock I have a
system I do like, but in this case the bolt is 1/2" x 1'  and is mounted
on a backplate that is 3&1/4.

So far the best I have come up with is riveting on  top and bottom
pieces just behind the 1/2 x 1 when in the closed position,  these two
pieces would allow another piece to slide through them and accept a
paddle lock.
