Bed frames are 1080 to 1095 steel in most cases -- and yes they can be made
from recycled railroad rail. Tee fence posts are also often made from old
rail.
Because of the high carbon level they can be make of quite thin angle
section and still be very strong. (Bed frames need to be STRONG --- grin).
Very good junk steel in most cases. YMMV
