Hmm, I bought two perfectly serviceable post vises in the last six months for 
$35
and $40, passed on one other good one and a couple in relic condition. These 
were 5 and 4.5 inch vices. I'm in CT buying at fleamarkets (and getting good 
deals at the end of the day, faced with packing up that heavy darn vice dealers 
are often willing to dicker) The six inch vise I use cost about the same a 
couple of years ago. I think location is key in this, also luck, but a 
determined guy with $50 could pick up a vise around here pretty easily.
