Hi Rick:
I agree that you are probably on legally defensible ground...but it was 
still somebody elses  idea....It would be a lot like copying satire 
that  spoofs  other material.
In an arena of near infinate numbers of possible ideas, why not come up 
with your own?
If i'm afraid that you'll  copy any good idea of mine you see, then i'll 
go out of my way to make sure you don't see it or my techniques.
It was that fear that almost led to the demise of the traditions of our art.
I think that as artist-blacksmiths, we need to be real protective of  
original work...
if only so we can be morally indignant when the Chinese rip us all off.
