Bob-
We're up in Upstate NY. Not as bad as Frosty, but compared to "normal"
winters have been brutal.
As for the house, the walls are supposedly insulated, but the windows are
definitely sucking a lot of heat out. One of the projects for when the
money is flowing a little better is to try and get modern windows in there.
In the meantime we're stuck with what we've got.
To make matters worse, our house was built in 1777, so while it isn't a
historically registered house, the better half doesn't want anything that
would scream 20th century, so windows, new siding, etc have to look as
close to authentic as possible. I'm just hoping I can find vinyl siding
that doesn't scream machine made sometime before I have to scrape and paint
this ol' money pit.... I mean this wonderful old Colonial. :-)
Ahh... The joys of home ownership. (And 2 of the coldest winters in the
last decade or so.)
