Looks are everything. On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog. :-)

Not mushy so much as too stiff, even when jiggered up and down in the
vise until it's as good as possible. I think it oughta be
more...um... whippy. Thinner taper, maybe? Can't be too thin or the
working end will fatigue off at the neck.

Hmm... How about an electromagnet fixed up the way a door bell or old
fashioned buzzer works? Tune the frequency to the natural frequency
of the tool by trial and error, then just step on the foot switch and
BAAAZZZZZZZZZZ hammer out your shape. Huh. Real soon now. The to-do
pushdown stack is already in overflow mode.
And who needs superquench? On *good* days, I have chunks of ice
floating in my quench tub -- frozen solid this morning. I bumped into
a guy in the supermarket this week whom I hadn't seen for maybe twenty
years. First thing he does is introduce me to his buddy as the guy
who used to sit in a straight chair on top of the kitchen wood stove
to keep warm. (Thanks, pal.) Things have improved dramatically since
those days but 5 below (F) is still um... non-optimal for a shop temp.
