[TheForge] glasses, gloves, hearing protectors.

Its getting closer every day and I am realizing that I need to get some basic 
safety gear.  I would like to know everyones recommendations.

I see well without glasses up to about 18" and then down hill quick.   I have 
a hard time with goggles and face shields.  I will be using both propane and 
coke and do I need anything other than safety glasses?

I have used Peltor hearing protectors a lot 15 years ago and they worked ok 
except in lots of heat.  What is now considered the best in a muff style 
protector.

I am also confused about what gloves to wear; kevlar? cotton furry farmer 
gloves? Nomex?  I will be doing primarily power hammer work.

I thought just a leather apron would be ok but other than Centaur I dont know 
where to go.
