Hey, That's what friends are for .............to be busy when you
really need them!
Sounds like you guys will be seeing more of each other, and you've
got the swaping this for that down. I have both of John's swage blocks
myself and really like them. John stopped by my shop a
couple months ago after leaving his class at the New England school of
Metalworking (Did he show you his lobster he made)?
We talked about tool ideas for the press and power hammer tooling.
He headed out with a set of my gas forge plans as well, check those out, you
fellows may want to do a joint project and build one or two of them. The
materials are such that you can scrounge lots of the parts that are needed.
Ralph

> Actuallly Ralph, John Newman and I live within walking distance of
each other, and his new shop is on my way home from work. We've only known
each other for about 2 yrs now, and I like to think he's taught me as much
as I have taught him. When you've had everything you needed for smithing at
your disposal for so many years, its a real shock when you try to do it at
home, and on a budget. I bought one of his firepots, and bartered some hand
tools to get one of his small swage blocks.
> We've worked on a couple of small projects together, but I'd like to
let him know right now, that I'll be busy when it comes to moving all his
equipment, especially his hammer, into his new shop. ;)
