[TheForge] Tongs & power hammer - a safety issue?

I could only imagine that he meant that the hammer slams the reins together,
as slamming the jaws together ought to open the reins, don'cha think?  or is
that splitting hairs and missing the point?  Can't imagine getting the work
all the way through to the reins while working the treadle, have clipped the
edge of the jaws on occassion, I suppose...
