[TheForge] Postal woes..a lesson learned

This was really brought home to me this last Christmas. I had some
packages to mail. Twice I used UPS "stores." The first time the store
I chose was a one-man operation and some guy was taking forever doing
business. Nonetheless the UPS employee kept his cool and apologised to
me for the delay.

The next UPS store I used was about a 3-man operation. I walked in,
posted my packages and walked out. 10 minutes max.

NEXT DOOR to the latter UPS store is a post office of moderate size.
It has about four counters. Christmas time, noon - three counters are
closed and there's a line of folks waiting, nearly out the door. I
wanted to take advantage of book rate, but couldn't wait, so came back
later. Got there at 4:30. They CLOSE at 4:30! (Why? That's when I
have time to do business with them!) There was a line of people waiting
whom they were apparently going to service at the one remaining open
counter, but they wouldn't let any more people into line. To prevent
more people from getting into line, an imperious sort was standing there
warding them off - instead of working a counter! What jerks!

I have no experience with the Canadian postal system, but I will tell
you, it cannot be worse than USPS. They have screwed me over more
times
than I can count. I now UPS absolutely whenever I can, since they have
yet to lose a package. With USPS the fact that they are technically a
government agency has convinced them that they can give up on customer
service.
