Fonde,

When I worked in a shop we simply kept a gallon bucket of lacquer thinner
with a rag and a lid.  Before painting the iron would be wiped down with the
damp 'thinner rag. The thinner was replenished as needed. I'd recommend
using rubber gloves and a organic vapor mask.
