Our new Super Wide Oval Forges are made with the steel shell rolled as 
an oval tube rather than a round cylinder. This makes the forge wider 
but not taller. That allows wider parts to be heated with out 
drastically increasing the volume of the interior of the forge. The oval 
shape, like the cylinder provides the excellent support to hold the 
ceramic fiber refractory in place and good radiant heat and convection 
qualities. Since we roll our shells in house we can control the shape to 
suit the needs of a particular application or process. With energy costs 
soaring fuel efficiency becomes a big factor.

   Now, Jay. You know I'm not going to be satisfied with that much. Give me a 
little detail about burner positions and interior currents. I have already 
discovered that interior heat currents are far more pliable than I previously 
imagined. Just what all are you getting away with?
   Folks, I'm going to toot Jay's horn a little bit, 'cause he's too busy or 
bashful to do it himself. It was Jay who encouraged me to bevel the for and 
aft faces of burner air intakes. I didn't want to bother. Beveling was the final 
design factor that took tube burners to the next performance level. He was 
already playing around with needles to make smaller accelerator orifices while I 
was merely contemplating the idea, and taught me some refinements in tube 
handling. If Jay is playing around with oval forges, the rest of us want to pay 
close attention.
