 Actually I believe it is called Reactive Armor (Tiles).

The Israelis did a lot of ground breaking research after their 2 wars. Some
of which we incorporated into our weapon systems.
There is also a lot of work going into improving ceramic armor.
You can also see a lot of jury rigged bar armor made from re-bar on our
military rolling stock in Iraqi .
