It was Tony's idea that rain seldom falls exactly straight down so a
straight up, open sleeve over the main stack would cause rain to hit
the inside of the top pipe and run out the overlapping bottom. I'd
speculated that if one put a slight dogleg in the middle of the top pipe
it would take care of vertical rain too.......Pete F
