Thanks for that link! I forwarded it to Steve Schwarzer who did a 
demo like this at Quad State. He used metal media blasting powder in 
square tubing and arranged larger rods, silver sheets (like aluminum 
foil) to make the pattern and welded shut and heated. Used a power 
hammer to compress it all together. He had some nice examples of his 
name in script, skulls, patterns etc.
