Nicely said Bob,

My association with Bill was mostly at QuadStates, and though I couldn't
afford his prices, I was able to barter a bit with him, and we were both
came away satisfied :)

Along those lines of charging a decent price, I bought Walt Scadden's audio
tape years ago "12 Ways to Help you Survive in Business as and Artist,
Crafsman, or Creative Person"  Pearls of wisdom I put in the tape player
every year or so.

    - For those of you who met him in later years it is hard to imagine him
    -as a kindly old "Uncle" that coached many of us. His main influence was
    -to stress business. He saw too many starving artists who loved

    -were doing but never charged enough for it. He got people to

    -get productive. If he saw you needed something it often would appear on
    -a truck and he would let you pay for it when you could. He had a gruff
    -exterior but had a heart of gold.
    - He had a great sense of humor and could tell a good story. He was a
    -snappy dresser. He could smell a power hammer from 20 miles away on the
    -interstate. He could get more heavy stuff into a van than anyone.
    - So for the rest of us , we move one step closer to being old-timers.
