Ibprofein at the 800 mg prescrition rate is a pretty good pain killer. You
can sandwich that with 500 to 1000 mg of tylanol, and pretty much walk on a
broken foot. I only use that when the pain is really excessive.
Reading the warning label on the prescription strengh form of alleve scared
the crap out of me. Won't use it. Don't like the effects on the liver that
tylanol gives, and so I use Tylanol ONLY when pain is excessive and then
ONLY as a sledge hammer blow on pain, in conjuction with ibprofein.
My left shoulder was so bad last summer that I couldn't lift the arm under
its own power. I kept moving it without trying to injure it worse.. used the
other arm to lift it above my head. Eventually got to lifting small weights
with it, and by spring I had pretty much full strength.
The elbow of my hammer arm / right arm gives me fits if I "over do" it.
Mostly I try to use a lighter hammer, and not work it more than an hour or
two at a time. I think that is how I injured the left shoulder: Lifting
heavy stuff with the "weaker" left arm to avoid injuring my right.
