Be aware that the world is full of good used industrial compressor
heads and tanks. And that the 5hp machine you buy in home depot is 5hp
*peak*, not at all the same as a 5hp industrial motor--and the pump it
runs isn't anywhere close to an industrial head that calls for 5hp.
Maybe you know this already but I found out that the so-called heavy
duty compressor from home
no-i-dont-actually-know-anything-about-what-I-sell-or-speak-english
depot worked hard just supporting one guy (me) with automotive air
tools. 

If you look around you can probably find yourself parts of or even a
whole compressor you actualy want for 12-1500 bucks or so. Not cheap,
but especially if you get a pressure-oiled machine it'll likely outlast
you. Email me offlist if you want more. If you're on the east coast I
might be able to help you find something.
