Don't have a picture but the farriers us a bar mounted on a stand that
has a series of rectangle notches in it. 1/4  3/16   3/8 ect  then with
a matching piece on a handle they stick the bar to be cut in the one
piece stick the one with the handle right up tight and twist one way
then the other breaking the bar off.
I have done similar with large crescent wrenches
Maybe a farrier can explain it better or look at a Centar Catalog

    I am trying to find pictures of a home made bar shear.  Maybe I am
calling it the wrong name or something.  Would not be a surprise.  Can
