Michael,
The bottom of the forge is coated with the Plistix 900F this will prevent
the bottom from being damaged from the direct flames. The Plistix can take
the high heat with no problem.
I put the burners in the top because I used a NC forge for awhile and I
liked the way it heated the metal, but it did scale the metal a lot. The
side arm burns have chokes so I should be able to help prevent from scaling
so much.
