Based on the information and reprinted ads in Postman's book the Trenton
anvil where forged steel and not forged wrought iron with a steel surface.
So you should have a good sparkle in the grinding stream.  Also they are
advertised for the solid "ring" of a steel anvil.  Columbus Forge and Iron
Co. also made many forged steel vises -- which I think are some of the best
out there.
