Carpenter Steel datasheet info on 304SS which is probably what you have.

Heat Treatment

Annealing

Heat to 1850/2050=B0F (1010/1121=B0C) and quench in=20
water. Brinell hardness approximately 150.

Hardening

Cannot be hardened by heat treatment. Can be hardened only by cold working.
