I don't know the size of your items -- but have you considered a commercial
aluminum finisher?

They will caustic dip the items followed by a nitric acid wash and water
wash -- and then they can bright anodize the material.  Not something you
want to try at home -- at least I would not recommend it.  Because they do a
lot of this type of work the cost should not be too great vs. your time.
Look in your yellow pages for anodizing.

If you go this route be aware that welds may be somewhat different in
"color".  The anodized surface will hold up very well.  Almost all
commercial aluminum fab items such as railings, store fronts, etc. etc. have
been anodized.
