I use Nickel Anti-Seize to lubricate chisels and drifts. If it takes
four swats to slit a yellow-hot bar with a chisel, then figure it will
take between two and three swats if the tool is lubricated SLIGHTLY (too
much will fly about, scorching stuff) with Nickel Anti-Seize. It is
good at temperatures found in forging. The can says it performs at up
to 2,600 degrees. Note though, that a lubricated tool might not seat
the same or stay when struck if it is not held well.
