One of the ways we deal with threat and tension is to make jokes about 
it..black humor is a prime device of this sort.
 When I spent an involuntary bunch of months in a cancer ward it was the 
most common kind of humor there.
It is a deliberate way to desensitize  anxiety.
 Like blacksmithing, I plan to give it up when I'm dead..and maybe not 
then...

Maille...wire . Wire drawing is older than  maille I think...drawing 
boards  ain't new tech by any means. If nothing else, with a good, 
tight-spaced set up and some practice, any myopic smith could simply 
forge wire out at a slow but not unreasonable rate..
The problem with sprang by maille, is that a pointed weapon ought to 
slide right in....um, point taken?
