Spare change, Frosty?  Got any spare change?  Use Canadian quarters.
They're nickel.  They make nice pattern welded stuff, if a bit chaotic
and uncontrolled in pattern.  Dimes are okay too.

YMMV because I don't know for sure that they haven't changed the
composition since I tried this.  And of course, old silver coins won't
work very well.

More tricks with Canadian coinage: If you heat to red and quench a $2
piece several times, you can loosen the center so that the outer part
will spin on it.  Replaces worry beads as a twiddle toy.
