Why not kill all your birds with one stone?
Miller, and I am sure others, make their gas drive welders that will
generate 3phase. So you could have a combo generator/welder, and 3phase, all
in one.

I heard of a shop in england someone worked in once, where the power hammer
was run off a generator, and every time you wanted to use it, you started it
up. I recently saw a shop in Oregon where there was no 3phase, and he used a
big miller welder to provide 3phase whenever he needed it. The welder was
outside, and the noise wasnt too bad. He only had 3 or 4 tools that needed
3phase, so he only ran it for a short bit at a time, a few times a day.
