Kevin,

I just go over the graduations with a soapstone and wipe off the extra. 
Leaves the marks white.

If your eyes are changing you can get those small reading glasses at K 
mart or anyplace. If you want safety glasses with built in readers 
check out duluthtrading.com. A lot cheaper than prescription glasses. 
About $30 I think.
